When a crown may help
A tooth weakened by fracture, a large filling or root canal treatment may need a crown or another protective restoration. A crown is not the answer to every discoloured or slightly chipped tooth. The dentist considers fillings, onlays, bonding and other conservative options before recommending full coverage.
How a bridge replaces a gap
A bridge connects replacement teeth to suitable supports. Conventional bridges may require preparation of neighbouring teeth; implant-supported bridges use implants. The span, supporting structures and cleaning access determine the design. Removable options may also be reasonable.
Preparation and fit
Records and scans guide the laboratory work after any required tooth treatment. The dentist checks margins, contacts, appearance and the bite. In-house CAD/CAM may allow selected restorations in one day. Extensive work, gum treatment or uncertain tooth prognosis can require more visits.
