Full Mouth Dental Implants and Fixed Teeth

When a full-arch plan is considered

You may be struggling with a loose denture, multiple missing teeth or repeated failure of damaged teeth. We first assess which natural teeth can reasonably be saved. A full-arch implant plan is considered when replacement provides a suitable route to function. Treating one arch and treating both jaws are different scopes of care.

The number of implants is individual

An arch may be supported by different implant numbers and positions depending on bone, loading, the planned teeth and cleaning. Terms such as All-on-4 or All-on-6 describe specific approaches; they do not identify the right plan for every patient. The written plan specifies the configuration and why it is recommended.

Your teeth are planned with the surgery

The team assesses smile line, lip support, speech, space for the bridge and the bite between the jaws. Existing photographs or dentures can help identify preferences. Digital records and in-house laboratory coordination support the design. The clinical checks confirm fit, tooth position and access for cleaning.

Questions before you decide

Your questions answered

No. A full arch is one complete jaw of teeth. Full mouth usually means treatment involving both jaws. Confirm the scope in the estimate.

Not automatically. The team assesses preservation before recommending extraction and explains the prognosis of each affected tooth.

The denture may help with planning, but the implant-supported restoration must be designed for its support, fit and hygiene. The team explains whether it can be adapted or replaced.

The number is planned for your anatomy, remaining teeth, bite and proposed restoration. A fixed number should not be chosen from a package before clinical assessment.

The surgical and tooth-fitting stages may be coordinated closely in suitable cases, but assessment and follow-up still need time. Ask for a written schedule before arranging leave or travel.

Timing and cost

Suitable cases may receive fixed teeth on the same day. Additional treatment, limited stability or medical considerations can require staging. Cost varies with the number of arches, implants, restorative material, anaesthesia and associated work. Ask for the cost per arch and the total plan so comparisons are meaningful.

Looking after the full arch

Clean around the implants and beneath the bridge using the devices demonstrated by the team. Follow dietary restrictions while healing and attend early bite checks. Long-term reviews assess the gums, implants and restorative components. A fixed bridge still needs maintenance and may need repair or replacement over time.

How the same-day implant pathway is organised

The Royal Dental workflow starts with registration, history taking and clinical examination. Existing X-rays and treatment records are reviewed, and investigations such as OPG, RVG or CBCT are selected where needed to assess the teeth, available bone and relevant structures.

The clinician then explains suitable options, risks, restorative choices and the expected sequence. The agreed treatment plan and estimate should identify what is included and whether fixed teeth are expected on the treatment day. Clinical findings or implant stability can change an immediate-loading plan.

Digital impressions or other records are used to prepare models and design the teeth. The laboratory and clinical teams coordinate production with the surgical and restorative stages. Before fixation, the restoration needs checks for fit, appearance, cleaning access and bite.

Local anaesthesia is used for appropriate procedures, with further anaesthesia or sedation planning according to your health and treatment. Rest and waiting arrangements can be discussed in advance. The team explains eating, cleaning and follow-up before you leave.

Receiving fixed teeth quickly does not mean that the tissues have completed healing. It is important to understand whether the teeth provided are provisional or final, any planned later stages, and what symptoms should prompt contact with the clinic.
