A Smile Makeover Planned Around Your Teeth

A smile makeover is a tailored combination of treatments rather than a standard set of veneers. We discuss the appearance you want while assessing tooth health, gum condition, facial proportions and your bite.

Define the changes that matter

You may want a brighter colour, more even edges, smaller gaps or restoration of worn teeth. Describe what concerns you and what you want to keep. The dentist checks whether the change can be achieved conservatively and whether the gums or bite need treatment first.

Preview the direction

Photographs, digital scans and a mock-up where appropriate can help communicate shape, length and proportions. The trial guides discussion; it is not a guarantee of an exact finished appearance. We consider speech and function alongside the visible smile.

Compare the treatment paths

Whitening and bonding may address limited changes. Veneers or crowns may be useful where shape or structure needs restoration. Orthodontics may be preferable for movement of natural teeth. A full-mouth rehabilitation is a wider functional plan and is discussed separately when many teeth or the bite are affected.

Questions before you decide

Your questions answered

Discuss the date early. Some improvements can be completed quickly, while orthodontics or healing may require more time. The team confirms what is realistic.

No. The plan can be limited and conservative. Tooth preparation is explained for each proposed restoration.

Cosmetic restorations do not correct every jaw relationship. Significant jaw or bite concerns need their own assessment.

Yes. Tell the clinician which features you want to keep and which concern you. The discussion should include tooth proportions, shade, gum line and how much change is appropriate.

Maintenance depends on the procedures used. Daily cleaning, professional reviews and attention to bite forces help care for the natural teeth and restorations.

Timeline and cost

Selected cosmetic work can be completed in one day with the appropriate preparation and in-house laboratory support. Orthodontics, gum healing and extensive staged care take longer. The estimate names the procedures, teeth, materials and future maintenance. Ask what irreversible tooth preparation is involved.

Care after the makeover

A comfortable bite and good hygiene support the result. Attend reviews and tell the team about sensitivity, food trapping or contacts that feel high. Natural teeth beneath restorations still need preventive care. Discuss cleaning, repair and replacement before selecting the material.

Cosmetic dentistry and the features of your smile

Cosmetic treatment planning considers tooth colour, shape, size, position and proportion, together with the gums and overall facial appearance. Smile design should also respect the way the teeth meet and the amount of healthy structure available.

Options include whitening, composite bonding, contouring, veneers, crowns and orthodontic care. These treatments serve different purposes. Bonding may change a tooth’s shape, while orthodontics moves teeth; a restoration should not automatically substitute for movement that is clinically needed.

Smile reconstruction can be considered after decay, trauma or significant wear. Where a skeletal jaw relationship is the main issue, a separate orthodontic and surgical assessment may be needed. A cosmetic plan should first address disease and functional concerns.

Selected restorative or cosmetic treatments can be coordinated in one day. That does not mean all cases of crowding, discolouration or an uneven smile have an appropriate one-day solution. Discuss the amount of preparation, reversibility, maintenance and expected future replacement before deciding.

Choosing a cosmetic dental plan

When choosing a cosmetic dental plan, consider relevant clinical experience, treatment planning, digital design, actual case photographs and patient accounts. Use these to prepare questions about your own case rather than to assume identical results.

Explain the features you would like to change and those you wish to retain. Shade, tooth proportions, gum display, speech and comfort all deserve discussion. A clear written plan should identify the teeth involved, materials, alternatives, cost and maintenance.

International patients should allow time for assessment and any necessary reviews. Event dates or a short holiday can influence scheduling, but the clinical plan should still determine what is appropriate.
